No Help:
I did not receive any help for the event even though I did try to find help. I had Professor Reinson send out the following email to the class in hopes that I would have a few extra hands to help me set up for each event:
Hello everyone,
If anyone is interested in completing a few hours of their service learning for our PR class you can come to the Film’n the Field Series. What can you do? Pick from one of the following:
- Write a press release about the event
- Take Pictures
- Record a Video
- Interview those in attendance after the event
There will be four events that you have the opportunity to take part in:
All events start at 6:30PM and run until 8:30 PM
All events will be held in Pioch 101
- Monday, October 5th
- Wednesday, October 7th
- Monday, October 12th
- Wednesday, October 14th
Interested? Call or email Cheol Kessler
Sorry to say, no one responded to this email.
Working with the Cardinal Courier:
I sent numerous emails to St. John Fisher College’s Newspaper, The Cardinal Courier, but received no response.
First Email:
My name is Cheol Kessler and I am a Sport Studies major here at St. John Fisher College. In the month of October four professors from Fisher will each be hosting a “Film’n the Field Series” for students, faculty, and the community. Each part of the series will highlight a specific film or television show that one of the professors has chosen (below lists the professors and their chosen work). These films/shows were chosen by the professors due to different issues and concepts presented as well as the unique and interesting story that each tells.
- Monday, October 5, – Lisa Jadwin – “Touching the Void”
- Wednesday, October 7 – Todd Sodano – Sports Night
- Monday, October 12 – Alan Pogroszewski – Arli$$
- Wednesday, October 14 – Emily Dane – “On the Ropes”
I have been assigned to market and promote this event to both the campus and community. I am writing to the Courier today in hopes that someone from the Courier would be interested in coming to one of the film/show events to write an article for a future issue (picutres and interviews could be arranged for you). Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
Second Email sent to Amanda Nasso, the Editor and Chief of the Cardinal Courier:
Hi Amanda,
My name is Cheol Kessler and I wrote to you on Tuesday, September 29th regarding the “Film’n the Field” series that four professors from Fisher are hosting this month. I wrote to the Courier prior to emailing you but was told that the Courier never received anything form me. Mike Bielak suggested that I contact you and that is why I emailed you on the 29th. I have been in contact with two people from your staff and both have told me that I would be able to get some type of coverage from the Courier. This is the final week of the “Film’n the Field” series and I writing you again in hopes that someone could attend the event tonight or on Wednesday the 14th and write an article about the event. If this cannot be done could a post-event article be written? Please let me know either way. Thank you.
Even after two emails, I heard nothing from the Cardinal Courier.
